Western Sicily


A trip to explore Western Sicily.  We will follow long streches of the amazing Sicilian coastline. Later, the tour changes  to the discovery of the rustic Sicilian countryside.

We will come across olive and almond groves, vineyards, and then arrive at the wineries, where fragrant wines will be served with local products such as: cheeses, cured meats, breads and biscuits.


Day 1 Palermo – Castellamare del Golfo

Day 4 Marsala – Mazzara del Vallo

Day 1 Palermo – Castellamare del Golfo

Arrive in Palermo with transfer to Castellamare del Golfo.
A walking tour of the historic center of Castellamare. A walk down its delightful narrow streets with their sea views, and discover its art deco and arabic influenced architecture. Dinner will be in one of the town’s restaurants. Overnight stay in hotel.

Day 2 Castellamare – Trapani

Leave Castellamare, with a first stop at the Scopello’s Tonnara, testament to the Tuna industry of a bygone era. Continue on to Valderice encountering part of the Zingaro Reserve with a view of the natural rock formations in the sea. Contiune on to Erice: one can choose between arriving in Erice by bike, a   vigorous uphill ride, or taking the cable car up.
A tour of Erice with an aperitif in the square. Continue on to Trapani.
A walk in the little city of Trapani. Dinner in a restaurant.

Day 3 Trapani – Marsala

We will take a route that crosses the countryside, following along the shores of the Lake of Paceco, lunch time arrival at the “Baglio Donna Franca”.
In the afternoon transfer by private bus to the Cantina Florio, where they await us for some wine tasting accompanied by traditional Sicilian foods.  Transfer to the town center of Marsala where dinner will be served in a local trattoria. Overnight stay in hotel.
Lunch is included. You are free for dinner.

Day 4 Marsala – Mazara del Vallo

The trip from Marsala to Mazara del Vallo, with its vineyards, olive and almond groves is a genuine representation of the real Sicily. There is a detour to Mazzara del Vallo for lunch, in a traditional restaurant, where one eats very well. Continue on to Giardino di Costanza Resort.
You are free for lunch.

Day 5 Mazara del Vallo – Menfi

Today we travel to the area of Sicily famous for wine production. Through the countryside of western Sicily, crossing the vineyards and arriving at “il Vigneto”, the historic resort and restaurant of Menfi, the city of wine. We will have lunch at the Vigneto, some relaxation by the pool and in the afternoon (6 pm) we  will walk to the Foresteria Planeta, where you can take a cooking lesson with their chef and then have dinner accompanied by wine from the famous winery, Cantina Planeta.

Day 6 Menfi – Sciacca

We will follow a route almost entirely on the bike trail that extends through the vineyards and farmland. We will cross a plateau with a view of the sea, and arrive at the winery, Cantina De Gregorio for an aperitif and a tasting of selected wines. Afterwards, we continue on for two chilometers until reaching the Port of Sciaccca where we will have lunch in a local restaurant.  Afterwards, we will go back up towards the town of Sciacca where we will reach the resort Villa Calandrino: some relaxation by pool, dinner and folk party!
